The Old Fashioned Love Band - 10 September

The last event, again at that very good Concert Room at the Jubilee Club in Torrisholme, was on Wednesday 10th September. This is a band I have known and enjoyed for some time, they are THE OLD FASHIONED LOVE BAND. A group of six fantastic musicians from The Midlands, including no less than three great vocalists, they knocked out great big band tunes and Swing classics from the 1930s/40s and raised £207 for funds to support the activities at the Lancaster Boys and Girls Club

Unfortunately our last gig at the end of June, with the exceptional Belgian band New Orleans Z'hulus, was mistimed! It fell slap bang in the middle of school's mid-term break; Hornby Institute had a Dutch musician appearing on the same night; and the following night that marvellous group The Swing Commanders were on at Morecambe Winter Gardens. With the resultant loss of much of the usual support, we were lucky to come out with only a very minor loss. Not the end of the world - but I have learnt from it!

For your diary you may wish to note that Kevin Grenfell, who gave us such a great show earlier this year with his Jazz Giants, will be returning on Wednesday 26th November with his HOT BANANA BAND.
